Highway Patrol Numbers Are In

As most of us would imagine, holiday celebrations bring out all of the bells and whistles. Most people out and about at holiday events tend to imbibe in the atmosphere and fully immerse themselves in the occasion. Often, this means having a drink or two.  All of this is fine up until the moment it’s time to get yourself home.  The best way to get back home after an event if you have had a drink is to call an Uber.  A designated driver is a great alternative however if you suspect that the other driver has had a drink, calling a car service is the best option. This helps to avoid unnecessary, accidents or arrests.  According to the numbers, over the Fourth of July weekend, Law enforcement reported upwards of 3,000 citations with over 40 DUI arrests. That doesn’t include accidents.

Statistics Show That Some Of The Worst Drivers Are In Mississippi

According to Smart Asset, Mississippi takes the cake for worst drivers.  Not only did their data show that the state has the second highest rate of deaths per vehicle miles driven, but the number of deaths in relation to each 100 million miles driven was also high.  The most startling fact was that Mississippi is on the list as the state with the worst drivers for the second year in a row.

No One Is Above Mississippi’s DUI Laws

Here in Mississippi, any individual found to be driving under the influence has to go through the same DUI Arrest process.  As we have seen in the media, even individuals who hold public office in Mississippi have been prosecuted for driving under the influence. Ultimately, no one is immune to the laws of the state of Mississippi.

A DUI arrest comes with many preconceived notions about the kind of person that you are, and whether you are capable of holding employment, receiving a promotion, visiting with your children, or even continuing your education, you may experience a negative impact on some areas of your life. Your family and friends may understand that there was a lapse in judgment or misunderstanding but a public record can affect other areas of your life that can affect your livelihood.
